Mom was driving me to the train station yesterday morning.
“Yuck, it’s raining,” she remarked.
“That’s weird,” I said. “The sun is shining.”
She gave the sky a good once-over. “Well, there must be a rainbow somewhere.”
It was all I could do to keep from jumping up and down in my seat and yelling, “Yes! And it’s right here!”
It would have been the perfect way to come out to her. She wouldn’t get to follow me with her questions when I jumped out of the car and fled onto the train.
When she picked up me up in the evening, I was glad I hadn’t said anything.
